yoga class photoYoga is a mind-body and exercise practice that combines breath control, meditation, and movements to stretch and strengthen muscles. Unlike other exercise programs, yoga places as great an emphasis on mental fitness as it does on physical fitness. Yoga can also help relieve chronic pain from arthritis, fibromyalgia, migraine, low back pain, and many other types of chronic pain conditions. We offer both chair yoga and gentle mat yoga.

Breathwork refers to a meditation technique used to shift energy through the body. Breathwork involves powerful breathing techniques used to relieve stress and may also help lower your blood pressure, and improve your sleep. A variety of styles are practiced, including holotropic breathwork, which combines accelerated breathing with evocative music, cathartic pranayama, which focuses on clearing trauma from the body, and shamanic breathwork, which voluntarily induces a state of hyperventilation to reach an altered state. Our sessions begin with a class discussion and move into an interactive breath work session.

Mindfulness meditation includes mental training that empowers patients to slow their racing thoughts, let go of negativity, and invoke a sense of calmness in the body and mind. Mindfulness techniques can also help improve physical health in a number of ways. Mindfulness can help relieve stress, treat heart disease, lower blood pressure, reduce chronic pain, improve sleep, and alleviate gastrointestinal difficulties. Sessions include a discussion of the many wellness benefits of mindfulness and a guided meditation.
