Dr. Tatiana Pestana, Assistant Professor of Integrated Medical Science at the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University is a Medical Internist and Pediatrician who has been working in the South Florida area for the last 17 years. Dr. Pestana earned her Master of Public Health at the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine and her Medical degree at Albany Medical College. As a primary care physician in the community, Dr. Pestana became interested in gaining the skills needed to better help patients improve their medical problems and achieve their health goals. She was able to do this by training in Culinary Medicine.
In 2016, Dr. Pestana became certified in Culinary Medicine at the Goldring Center for Culinary Medicine at Tulane University. With this nutrition and cooking knowledge, Dr. Pestana has been able to help many patients reduce their cholesterol, improve their diabetic control, lower their blood pressure, and achieve healthier weight. Dr. Pestana helps patients change some of their current dietary habits for healthier ones with one-on-one consultations and cooking demonstrations.
